Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight
I had the great pleasure and incredible luck to find the woman who is the story, behind this Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight photography session. It was one of those shoots where everything went right - and I could do no wrong. Definitely love those scenarios when they come up.
I happened to meet this "True Cowgirl" by way of a Facebook request, where I was looking for some models that lived in and around Ste. Anne, MB. The Lovely "Lorraine" answered my ad - and it was a great connection right from the start. I should also mention that this gal has not modelled before - which was fine by me. I was really just looking for a Positive Upbeat girl who I could rely upon to be professional. I scored a 10 out of 10 on my checklist!
The setting for this Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight session was at Lorraine's parent's farm out near Richer.
It turned out to be Perfect Weather - and a Perfect Location.
The first part of our shoot took place outdoors, in and around the horse corral.
I can't recall the names of all the horses - but they were very friendly and cooperative.
Prior to the session, we discussed wardrobe - including colours and styling.
I pay a lot of attention to detail - which I think goes a long way to making the final images look amazing.
I have to give a HUGE "THANK YOU" to Lorraine's sister "Sherry".
She held the lighting stand for the outdoor portion of the shoot - and as a bonus - she was super funny and entertaining during the entire set.
Once the first outdoor set was done - we then set up inside the old barn.
When I saw the inside of this barn - I knew I had the Perfect setting.
I loved the bare bulb lighting on the ceiling - and the barn had a beautiful atmosphere to it.
We decided to start off with some sexier looking poses for our interior location.
Lorraine was absolutely fabulous. The camera lens totally loves her - as you can see.
We went through a variety of fun poses and ideas through this Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight session.
Lorraine was great in giving a variety of expressions that wanted for each shot.
Almost all of these images (including the ones outside) were shot using professional studio strobe lighting balanced with the ambient light.
I am Nationally Accredited with the PPOC (Professional Photographers Of Canada) in both Studio Lighting and Environmental Lighting - which has a lot to do with the quality of all the photos.
Big Sister Sherry saw how amazing Lorraine was doing in her shoot - and suggested we try a few Cowgirl Boudoir shots.
Lorraine was feeling very confident at this point and agreed to pose.
We kept it fairly tame - and they still turned out so well.
This part was unplanned - so luckily Lorraine happened to be wearing something that worked for the shoot.
After we put the "flames out" on this Hot portion of the shoot - we went back outside for a few more Corral shots.
These last images were photographed differently than the first set of outdoor images.
These were all done without a studio strobe - instead using the Sun as the "Key Light".
Shadows are harsher - but it gives a more editorial look to them.
Lorraine is definitely a TRUE COWGIRL in every sense of the word.
That's what makes this session perfectly titled - Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight.
She knows her way around a horse - demonstrating some amazing riding and handling abilities.
The horses obviously trust her as well - as you can see by some of the following images.
I also included a couple of B&W edits just for a different creative look.
I have to say that this has been one of my top favourite shoots for 2021.
I loved how all the images turned out so well.
I also had the amazing experience of hanging out with Lorraine and Sherry for the afternoon.
Wonderful people - they are both a Dazzling Delight!
That concludes this Manitoba Cowgirl A Dazzling Delight blog posting.
I don't think I've ever had so many images from a session that "I just had to edit".
