This Winnipeg Photographer transforms 10 year old boy into Superman post, all happened by accident one day when I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this come up in my feed.
A former female client had just learned that her sweet 10 year old boy had told his teacher that he felt UGLY. Mom wanted to help her boy's self-confidence and posted on FB asking for her friends to send "some love" to Layne.
When I saw this, I felt a tug from God urging me to do something. I knew exactly what to do.
My first impression in looking at Layne, was he was a good looking "Clark Kent". I wanted to play up on this and decided I could do a cool Clark Kent and Superman photo shoot. I reached out to mom and she and Layne were very excited about the idea.
Mom purchased the Superman outfit as well as a Clark Kent news reporter suit I figured out some exciting, cool shots I could try. I also wanted to create a Video of the session with some fun effects. Also dug into my props inventory to add some vintage flair. This Winnipeg Photographer transforms 10 year old boy into Superman shoot was well on its way.
I wanted Layne to be totally "blown away" with the final images, so I preplanned some awesome composites. Like this one of Layne/Superman lifting a vehicle. This was one of his favorites.
As we started getting into the shoot, I could see Layne's self-confidence start to rise. He has such an outgoing personality, which really showed up in the photos and video.
One of my creative ideas was to show how Superman deals with everyday life. This would include making sure his superhero outfit is clean and pressed.
I pitched it to Layne to see if he could give me a look of being tired/bored while ironing the costume as Clark Kent. He is a natural actor and the shot turned out great.
I had to have at least one image of him flying through the sky in this Winnipeg Photographer turns 10 year old boy into Superman post.
It was a bit tricky getting this shot in the studio, but with some preplanning, it turned out so well.
Layne looks like a real superhero.
This was the classic "ripping the shirt" style image while coming out of a phone booth.
Since phone booths are hard to find - I created a cool composite.
I also wanted this image to be more cinematic, so I used more dynamic lighting and a cinematic editing process.
The final image I had in mind was to show the playful nature of Layne, even as Superman.
Here he is with that confident winning smile of his, as he plays with some of the other DC Comic Superheroes and villains.
